Concerned with the irretrievable loss of ancestral and traditional horological knowledge and methods, Robert Greubel, Stephen Forsey and Philippe Dufour have decided to join together in the adventure of “Le Garde Temps, la Naissance d’une Montre”. They have set for themselves the exciting challenge of preserving, perpetuating and sharing traditional watchmaking expertise for future generations by passing on their know-how to a young watchmaking teacher, Michel Boulanger, so he can acquire the skills necessary for creating an entirely hand-made timepiece. As the heir and custodian of this expertise, Michel Boulanger will then carry the torch and pass it on to future generations.
While the adventure unfolds, watchmaking students, watchmakers, collectors and the general public all over the world will be able to learn about the traditional watchmaking tools and techniques that need to be safeguarded via a series of 3D films, photos and this blog.
